Google Help. Help Centre Community. Did something change in the field mapping in Google Contacts in the last 24 hours. I compared the or so "changes", and nearly in all cases, the "changes" were an issue with the Google Contacts side having incorrect or missing field mappings. For example, for a contact, I would have a "work" and "home" e-mail address in my Mac Address Book.
On Google Contacts, it's now showing as "other" and "other" and wants to overwrite essentially delete the detail in my local address book. I don't know when the information changed on the Google side, but everything was working well until yesterday.
I keep preventing my computer from syncing because I don't want to lose all of this valuable information. If I browse through all changes, its nearly all of the same thing - deletion of e-mail address, mailing address, etc and re-adding as "other".

I then deleted all of the contacts in Google and re-synced from Apple Address Book. The detail appears to have returned. I still would like to know what caused the fields to all change, though. I am having the exact same situation, but in my case instead of all at once, I seem to get this meesage anytime I view a contact on my iPhone3GS.

Then next time Sync initiates on the Mac that contact will get the "other" field applied. I'm having the same problem. I also went through an export and re-import exercise a few weeks ago to correct this fixing Google Contacts but the problem is creeping up again. Can someone from Google answer this?
How to Sync Contacts from iPhone to Address Book on a MacOS
I have been able to reliably repeat this issue on a single contact. Setup is:.
All contacts have been synced across all devices for months. Open Contact for edit on iPhone, touch the email field but make no changes , Close "edit" on iPhone. Notice data being transferred from iPhone. Doing some "Type of Email" searches on the web makes it look like Exchange does not support "Type of Email" fields. Only Email1, Email2, Email3. So it feels like Google Sync is mapping them all to "other". I am also having issues all of the sudden with Address Book not syncing with Google contacts.
I just started trying to sync Address Book with Goggle Contacts. Also, the description of how to set up the sync for Address Book says that after I select sync with Google and enter my password, I need to go to the menu, select sync, and then select Sync Now.
No such menu options exist for me.
